We have free snacks at work. Initially, I thought it was pretty awesome as they were laid out in tall wire carts that felt that I had my own mini mart where I could go and browse through all the snacks and select my stash. The novelty wore off after a few months of my “mini-mart shopping” once I started to notice the extra calories added by all the nuts I was eating daily. Although I was choosing healthy snacks, I was packing on calories from all the nuts from the individual servings. Now, I have a few pieces of nuts as a snack and pass the packet to my fantastic team mate.
