Avocado Banana Puree

My little munchkin Neel has started to get initiated to the flavors and tastes of fruits and vegetables. It is fascinating to watch his expressions and reactions to new food. So far, he loves food!  He knows to reach out and grab the spoon. He even tries to put the spoon in his mouth. Well the food makes it everywhere except his mouth.

Today’s puree was an avocado banana puree. I used breast milk to puree them together since this was the first time I was feeding him solids. As he gets a little older, I will just be pureeing them without the milk.

Avocados are really really good for babies and children.  Babies enjoy the smooth and creamy consistency of avocadoes. Avocados are especially high in protein, fiber, folic acid, zinc. and omega 3 fatty acids. They are high calories and most of their calories come from fat, the good fat, making them a nutrient dense super food for growing children.

Avocado Banana Puree (makes 1 baby serving)

½ banana

½ avocado

2 oz Mommy’s Milk or Formula or Water (adjust for desired consistency)

1)      Put all the ingredients in blender and puree.

2)      Serve.
