A few weeks ago I have posted an article on the Roasted Black Chickpeas (Garbanzo beans) that my kids eat all the time. It is crunchy, healthy and is a great source of protein and fiber that my kids just love munching on. They are only available in your local Indian stores as far as I know, so if you happen to be near one, do stop by and buy these roasted kala channa beans. They will be a great addition to the items to include in your child’s lunch box or afternoon snacks.
I wanted to see how similar homemade roasted chickpeas would taste to the store bought roasted black chickpeas. It didn’t come close in terms of texture but homemade roasted chickpeas are just as yummy, healthy and nutritious. Nevertheless, I know we will make roasted garbanzo beans like this at home. I like how you can take garbanzo beans add in any flavor you want and roast them in the toaster oven and voila out come a fun, yummy dish that you can serve to your kids or at a party.
Recipe (makes 1 cup roasted garbanzo beans):
1 cup cooked garbanzo (canned garbanzo with liquid drained or soak dried garbanzo beans and boil them prior to roasting them)
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tbsp honey
Mix all the ingredients. Spread on a baking sheet. Cook for 30 minutes at 400F till they are browned. Serve and enjoy! They will be gone very quickly I promise.
Will you help me with where I should take YumKid? Would you like to see YumKid carry the store bought chickpeas products and other similar products?
