Jumpstart the Season of Giving by Supporting Vitamin Angels in Reducing Child Mortality

I am out of the country at the moment and I am really missing all the Thanksgiving chaos/festivities. If I were in Los Angeles at the moment, there would be chaos in my kitchen. I have mixed feelings as this is the first time in almost 20 years I will not have a Thanksgiving meal. So Thanksgiving this year for me is about thinking of things that I am thankful for!

Top on the list is having kids that are healthy! Did you know that 190 million children worldwide under the age of 5 are suffering from Vitamin A deficiency? Vitamin A deficiency is a major underlying cause of child mortality and blindness. However one dose of Vitamin A every 6 months can reduce the mortality by 25% in the at risk population. The cost for Vitamin Angels to reach one child with Vitamin A for one year is $0.25.
Vitamins Angels a non-profit has launched its 100 Days of Giving campaign aimed at raising $500,000. The campaign which runs through January 1st, 2012 is aiming to raise $250,000 through public donations which will then be matched with sponsors for a total of 500,000. The goal is to save 2 million lives. Check out their video here.
