According to this study most children think that milk comes from bottles and bread comes from plastic bags. How interesting! Click here to see the entire article. This doesn’t surprise me one bit, as when was the last time most of us adults and children saw cows, chickens or pigs. Unless you live on a farm you probably only see cows in the milk /cheese ads on TV.
The study said that as children become more aware of the food chain they make more sensible eating decisions, the same applies for parents also. However, the parents seem to learn the most on these farm visits, as almost 54% of the parents on the trips in this study say they learnt something new also.
Come back to this blog and you will see how we are address the awareness and the education, but in the meantime the next time you see a cow tell your child that milk comes from cows and eggs come from chicken. See if there are any fairs in your area and take your children there so they can see how chicken hatch eggs, cows give milk etc..
Come back tomorrow as we are going to post our experience with a food item for kids from around the world.
