Boy its been a long break since my last post. I had initially thought that I would be able to post while on vacation but it didn’t happen as I was on the road most of the last 6 weeks or had very limited internet access. A lot has happened over the last two months. Now that I am back in Los Angeles, I am seeing more signs for healthy kids and healthy lunches in grocery stores. Yesterday there was article blasting how Obama daughters get healthy options at school while all the kids in public schools do not especially if they are vegetarian or vegan.
I am not sure if that was the right approach to get your message across, the President and Michelle Obama if anything have promoted healthy eating habits. A case in point is the garden that Michelle Obama planted in the White House for the local kids. I planted a small garden for my daughter on our apartment patio (obviously given that it is a patio there’s not a whole lot we can grow) and what I find is that Simone loves to water her plants and pick the few pieces of veggies we grow. She takes a lot of pride in it and is more eager to eat the food when it is cooked from it.
What are your thoughts? Do you think getting kids to grow their own veggies and fruits is a good idea?
