The Magic Powder for Easing Baby’s Teething Pain

Teething pain got your little one down? I have experienced both extremes with respect to teething. With my first kid the teeth just popped one day. No warning, no pain – nothing, nada. With my 18 month old, they have been slowly inching their way to the top even though he still only has 6 teeth. It has been a painful process for him, they hurt him, his gums are swollen and as a result he sometimes doesn’t eat and he gets cranky.

Then I bring out my magic medicine and 1 lick of the fine powder. He is fine! He is happy! The change is almost instant. It always amazes me. Curious as to what this magic powder is?  Calcarea Phosphorica or Calcarea Phos. Calcarea Phos is basically a calcium powder that helps with the teething process. It is 100% natural and has no side effects. It is so effective at relieving teething pain that I don’t need to massage his gums, or give/buy him teething toys etc.

There are other options for relieving teething pain. Orajel is a leading brand when it comes to teething issues. I don’t know much about the ingredients in it so cannot speak for Orajel although I do believe they also have a natural paraben free dye free version in addition to their flavored products.  Hyland’s also has teething gel and tablets that use Calcarea Phos as a base with other ingredients to it. We just use plain Calcarea Phos powder in our home.

It is the magic powder in our home and I am really glad that my father recommended this to me because this option would not have crossed my mind. If over the counter mediation is not your style, you should try Calcarea Phos because IT WORKS!

What teething products did you use for your kids?

  1. Great to know! I recently picked up Humphrey’s Teething Relief Pellets, which include calc phos, among other ingredients (chamomilla, coffea cruda, belladonna). Where do you find the cal phos powder? Can I get it online?

  2. Rashmi says:

I live in LA so I got mine from a local homeopathy store. I do believe you can get the calc phos powder online.

Interested in trying this method how do you apply it?where is the best place to purchase it.

  4. Rashmi says:

You rub it on the kid’s gums if it is a powder or just pop the tablet in the kids mouth, it dissolves fairly quickly. Try your local homeopathic store or Whole Foods or you can even look for it online.

Does the baby have to be older than 6 months to use? My little one is going on 4 months and he’s teething and idk what to do to help him. I didn’t experience this with my older child so i don’t know the remedies.

  6. Rashmi says:

I started giving it to my baby when he around 5 months old when his first teeth broke but he had also started limited solids by then. But please don’t use my experience as a guide. Check with your doctor because your circumstances might be different from mine.

At this point I am willing to try anything!!! My daughter has four molars coming in. She’s cranky and will barely eat. I’ve tried the Hyland tablets but they did not work for her. I am going to try the powder if I can find it.

  8. Rashmi says:

I hope you can find and they work for you.
