is SUGAR! According to a recent Reader’s Digest article on 20 secrets your waiter won’t tell you, a waitress at a well known Pizza chain said that they add sugar in the dough so that the kids will like the pizza more. That’s a pretty scary thought! As a parent you think you are ordering something “healthy” that is bread and cheese for your kids and you have no idea that is has sugar or how much sugar the pizza has.
So how do you deal with this?
For starters I am not a big fan of ordering a separate kid’s meal at restaurants as I believe the options are very limited. Most of the times, I see Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, chicken fingers and fries or cheese pizza or something to that effect. I hardly ever see any fruits or vegetables in kid’s meals in restaurants. Basically it is a lot of carbohydrates, sugar and fried stuff. When we go out an eat, we order our adult meals and our 2 year daughter gets a sampling of everything my husband and I have ordered. This way she has almost 7-8 “sides” to try and she is also getting her vegetables and fruits and the food is savory.
I would love to hear from you on how you deal with taking your kids out for meals.
