You pregnant? Or know of someone who is pregnant? I know this blog is targeted towards nourishing and raising healthy children, but diet habits really do start in your belly. I know when I was pregnant with my 2 year old, I used to eat a lot of strawberries and blueberries (something like 2 cups a day), so I was a little surprised initially to see my daughter wolf down strawberries and blueberries as a 9 month old and she still continues to prefer strawberries and blueberries over other fruits. I guess she developed the preference and taste for these fruits in my belly. So what are the 3 pregnancy super foods for welcoming a healthy baby?
Strawberries: Strawberries are low in calories but are power packed with folic acid and have loads of vitamin C. Toss some with Cottage Cheese and sprinkle with almonds and you have an incredibly healthy snack full of anti-oxidants and omega 3.
Soybeans and tofu: Low fat and a great source of protein, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. (avoid eating these if you are going to have a boy as they are estrogen friendly)
Wheat germ: High in iron, magnesium, and zinc. Sprinkle on top of your favorite food items.
